Cinque Terre

jpg

Cinque Terre ("Five Towns") is 90 minutes from Lucca, via 2 or 3 trains (depending on which of the 5 towns you start at). We started at Riomaggiore, then hopped the ferry up to Vernazza (we only visited those two towns).

C.T. is as beautiful as the travel brochures and videos say it is, but that it's big problem. It attracts tourists like flowers attract bees. It is over-run by visitors. The "vibe" is DisneyWorld on a frantic day. But . . . glad that we went there and saw what they're all talking about - the ocean scenery and the cliffhanging homes. Very impressive and lovely (when you mentally erase the other visitors).
