Not much new going on there, but the old stuff is still beautiful as ever.
This is a detail from a shipwreck painting by Winslow Homer.

Suits of Armor - I got an education from the museum attendantI was taking pictures of this suit of armor because it has so many weird screws and plates and attachments. The guard came over and started telling me about it. This suit was actually used in jousting, rather than the simpler but more elegant armor that noblemen pranced around in (no jousting for those guys). Suits like this one were used at jousting tournaments that were basically traveling circuses. It has a lot of screws and separate pieces so it is adjustable to fit the wearer. These were actually rented out (!) to anyone who wanted to joust. Some guys were professional jousters, like today's circus performers, but many were just local guys who wanted to show off for their friends, by jousting. This suit had lots of nicks and scratches from use. The noblemen's suits in the other rooms were pristine ! |
Now that Spring is here, Mike (who works from home) can start up his "fair weather home office" (not a joke ! ) that he shuts down for the winter.
Here he is showing off the new steps installed at the entrance.
His desk ((in the darkness there) looks out to the wooded back yard.
Sister T is extremely artsy-crafty with fabrics & leather; and has a collection of vintage sewing machines that she rebuilds / refurbishes.
And .... she just sent us two lovely fabric "pictures" that now hang in our dressing room.
I tried here to enlarge a part of the pictures to show the construction, the layers of crafted fabric.
Drove to Yankee Candle in western Mass. Nice place for ambience and nik-nak shopping., and we got more comfortable how the new car drives and the electronics does stuff on its own. Anyway ... good day.
I had the camera set wrong (I have too many cameras with almost similar menus!) so the pictures didn't work out. Above is my favorite, converted mildly to "art".
