Dave's Journal / Apr2026

Easter .... when I was a child, Easter was actually my favorite holiday - even more than Christmas. I think it's because there was less stress and excitement and fussing around than there is at Christmas. Plus ... I always got a chocolate bunny - sometimes two chocolate bunnies !

Or ... maybe it's because it was finally Springtime in Brooklyn.

jpg

The only negative memory I have of Easter is that us little boys (5-8 years old) had to wear short dress pants and a tie and jacket - usually white !
Happily there are no photos of me in that outfit (that kid is not me).

Well, I must have been good this year because yesterday I found some chocolate bunnies that someone left for me.

Meanwhile, our real backyard bunnies are a big pain this year. They chewed lots of bark off our bushes during the winter and I don't know if the bushes will be okay.

I shot this clip today through a window and a dirty screen. There's 3 out there pushing each other around. I have some (very foul-smelling) repellent that I'll spray to get them off the property.

This will get rid of them .....

Always think of my Dad whenever I hear a vintage Al Jolson tune. And, since it's April, here's a short clip .....

Last Saturday: Getting into my car in a crowded parking lot, I must have ducked badly getting in because while the door was opening, it sucked the left cochlear processor off my head (it's magnetic) and flung it away from the car. I did not see exactly what happened.
Cars parked tightly left and right of my car.
Got down on our knees and looked - no processor, looked and looked for 10-15 minutes. Went into the building and asked for help and flashlights. Four of us looked another 10-15 minutes.
These units cost $10,000 each. This was very bad.

Found it !!!..one of my "helpers" found it magnetically stuck to the chrome wheel rim of the car next to me, about 8" up on the wheel rim. That was at least 5feet away from where my door opened (plus about 5feet above ground where my head was) and obviously it bounced after hitting the ground. Turned it on and it worked !!.
Hugged the lady who found it ..... "You saved my life" is what I said.

My redesign isn't pretty but it works very well ...

Hello Dave, how can I help

Just assembled our GF8905-1A Tilt overbed table.
It will not stay in the set position. It springs back up when I stop pushing down. How does it lock in my set position?

Dave, I am transfering this chat to our tech support chat line. They will be able to help. One moment.
ok

You are now chatting with Johnny.

do I need to retype my question ?
no,
. . . . .
There is a screw that should not be removed, if it's removed it will not stay down, can I do facetime with you?

If you refer to the "transit lock screw" the instructions say to "Discard transit lock screw" ... so I tossed it.
It should be removed after table is set up, not before, do you remember if it was before?
It was the very last thing I did and it is the very last thing stated in the instructions.
who did you purchase from?
The box says "LUMEX"
that's the manufacture, what dealer did you buy it from? what does your receipt say Johnny
There should also be a lot# on leg

ok. The email says "No-Insurance Medical Supplies" Order # N111953
Can send me a copy, I'll call them, to replace
Replace what ?
the table?
Wait .... there's gotta be an easier solution. If I replaced the transit lock screw, would that fix anything. The table is assembled, I will not disassemble and box it and ship it. What's a good easy fix I can do ?
It could be a bad mech inside
putting screw back won't help
Can you tell me the lot#

Give me a minute...it's upstairs........
Lot # = AEY182PR

I'll call them and explain, and have them contact you, what is your phone#
XXX.XXX.XXXX (Cell phone. Leave a message as needed.)
thanks

My solution to the spring loaded table top. It ain't pretty but it's simple, cheap and works just fine.....

What's happening today ? .... well my local taxes are at work pumping out sewers.

And I am designing a piece to hold several solar panels for Mike's radio transmitters. Next step is to make a FREECAD model for him to 3D-print the actual part . (That will be the hard part for me.)
