Dave's Journal / Dec2021
Deb decorated our 2021 Christmas tree.
So far, the cats have been well-behaved about it !!
Really excellent exhibit of multi-layered photographs, using a camera obscura. Artist is Havana born Abelardo Morell.
Then, of course there was "Art" in the rooms as well ......
Everyone says the country has gone to hell and that the "other guys" did it.
People see themselves as either the heroes or the victims, but never as the bad guys.
Watching the basement TV with Tux snoozing nearby and I see the rocking horse my uncle Tony made for me in 1947 (the rockers disappeared many years ago) and the guitar that got me through college (a Guild flamenco inspired beauty).
Got two vaccines yesterday and tonight I can hardly stay awake.
This started out as a simple colored pencil thing, then it migrated to the computer for the shadow, background and frame.
Didn't realize how much stuff I've accumulated.
This started out with the question "Do I need a new lens (for Christmas)?" So I took inventory.
The killer word in the question is "need".
Getting ready for Christmas eve, I am splitting a bit of wood. Have a good electric log splitter but it's a pain to move the cars, set up the splitter, my little bench, the wood bag and make a garage mess. Okay if you have lots of wood to split, but for just a few days' worth, I call in the heavy hitter. The simple log splitter Mike gave me years back. On the short list of all the most useful items I ever owned.
In the background there (unrelated to the wood splitter) is a box of environmentally friendly "logs" made from compressed trash. I bought 3 boxes (18 logs) at a bargain and they are utterly useless. Should have stayed in the "trash" pile.
Put together Christmas Eve meatloaf today.
(Bake it Friday.)
I need an easier-to-use time lapse camera.
This one is very klunky to work.
I have this Brinno200 with Chinese logic (???) in the menu system, plus you cannot review the video in the camera, the video is AVI format so it has to be viewed and converted to mp4 in a computer, plus it has no flip screen. It all works but cumbersome.
Shhhhhh ...... stop ..... chill ......
Fireplace is lit (I will be sitting there in a minute), vintage TV programs are running.
Good riddance to 2021, and a cautious welcome to 2022.
