A lady dancing "in the style of a man" ... and doing pretty damn good !!

I always enjoyed the music and the dancing.
The couples dancing gets pretty erotic at times.
She is (was) Carmen Amaya .....

Carmen Amaya (2 November 1918 - 19 November 1963) was a Spanish Romani flamenco dancer and singer, born in the Somorrostro district of Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain.
She is often hailed as "the greatest Flamenco dancer ever" and "the most extraordinary personality of all time in flamenco dance." She was the first female flamenco dancer to master footwork previously reserved for the best male dancers, due to its speed and intensity. She sometimes danced in high-waisted trousers as a symbol of her strong character.

Vintage Movies (this one is 1934, Cleopatra)

I love this old stuff. Over-dramatized acting and directing like a stage play but with the camera cutting from face to face, moving from side to side. Soft, glowy lens filters on close-ups, lighting changes with each new camera angle.

See IMDB page for this version of Cleopatra.

Unrelated note: making this slideshow I learned that *.webp animations support transparent frames. This makes my life better.

The lobby in St. Vincent's hospital has a garden, a waterfall, wi-fi and cafe tables for the various fast food places down the hall. (Deb went for a checkup today.)

We're home now and I am out back wondering what the poor people are doing today.

Dew Point / Realtive Humidity

You didn't ask, but ...... years back the weatherman told us the outside temperature and the relative humidity ("The relative humidity is 73%", or whatever.) When it gets to 100%, your body cannot cool off by sweating. The air is already saturated with moisture and can't absorb any more, so sweat cannot evaporate and your skin does not get cooled. This is a big problem because you body constantly generates heat and now the heat cannot transfer to the air and you body temperture will continue to rise.

That weather info was fine, but then someone decide to fix it and change the nomenclature to dew point ("Temperture is X0 and the dew point is Y0"). Well, gee that's good, right?

So I found this little chart to help me through this Brave New World we live in....

jpg

In the US, we would look at the top scale and the right scale for 0F values.

Example 1: If the Air Temperature is 86 and the Dewpoint is 70, the relative humidity is 60%.

Example 2: If the Air Temperature is 68 and the Dewpoint is 60, the relative humidity is approximately 75%.

Well ..... there you have it.

Just birds at the feeder, shot through dirty double-glass window. Came out suprisingly clear. The black birds do not bother the little guys, but those Blue Jays are bullies... even saw one kill a baby bird before I could get out there.

FYI ..... (not that you can do anything about this) .....

jpg 1. Sunday was the hottest day ever recorded. And . . . last month was the hottest June on record globally and the 13th month in a row that broke records for high temperatures

2. Melting ice is slowing Earth's spin, shifting its axis and even influencing its inner core. As polar and glacial ice melts because of global warming, water that was once concentrated at the top and the bottom of the globe is getting redistributed toward the equator. The extra mass around Earth's middle slows its rotation, which in turn has a lengthening effect on our days.
